ThermalDry Basement Floor Matting System

Americrawl

The ThermalDry® Basement Floor Matting System turns a cold, damp, hard concrete floor into a dry, comfortable floor suitable for carpet.

There is no organic material (wood) in the ThermalDry® Basement Floor Matting System, so it will NOT support mold growth! This is a key benefit over any other system available!

One of the differences between basement space and first floor space is the floor itself. It is the surface we are in contact with most. The floor of the main level of our homes is wood with air space below it. The floor of our basement is dense, hard concrete. Because it sits on the damp, cool (55º F) earth below, it is cold and uncomfortable. Furthermore, concrete is porous and allows water vapor to pass through. This moisture makes it feel even colder, causes carpet or other floor covering to rot, allows mold to grow, and causes the basement to smell musty. People with asthma & allergies may not be able to spend time in a basement like this. It's a problem that must be solved if you want a comfortable space in your basement.

The ThermalDry® Basement Floor Matting System is a specially engineered polypropylene, 17" square tile, which is installed "tongue & groove" on the floor. Unlike systems that use wood, the ThermalDry® plastic membrane is totally water and vapor proof. The unique grid design on the bottom of the tile creates an air space that insulates the floor, and does not cause water vapor to condense. The installation takes away only 3/8" of precious ceiling height in the basement, instead of 4" for other methods of dealing with the problem.

The air space creaed by the ThermalDry® system offers an insulating quality, because your carpeting is not in contact with the cold concrete. The finished floor is warmer, so summertime condensation forming on cold floor surfaces is greatly reduced or eliminated.
